Registration Opens April 1!

The Parks and Recreation department offers a variety of camps of full-day camps, morning preschool camps and specialty camps.  Our youth summer camps are perfect for working parents during all school breaks and summertime, the preschool discovery camps are a wonderful introduction to our program and the specialty camps are great enrichment programs filled with activities and creativity.

YOUTH SUMMER CAMPS

Camps are available for ages 5 – 11 (K – 6th grades) and are offered from 7:00 am – 6:00 pm.

Summer Camp at The Centre – is our traditional day camp featuring a variety of different activities including games, sports, crafts, swimming, weekly field trips, and more. Centre Sports Camp –  Sports Camp will be at The Centre of Elgin.  This camp offers a variety of different sports and games and include weekly field trips, swimming, and more! Fees: $230R/$260NR *fees are per week. Camp is available for ages 5 – 11 (K – 6th grades) and are offered from 7:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday-Friday. Camp Prairie View – Camp Prairie View is a traditional day camp held at Prairie View Grade School. Campers will take a field trip each week and swim at Wing Park Pool two days a week. Camp activities include arts and crafts, games, team building, sports and more! Fees: $230R/$260NR *fees are per week. Teen Leaders Camp – Teen Leaders Camp, where adventure meets leadership! Our summer day camp is specially designed for teens looking to embark on a journey of fun, friendship, and personal growth. Participants will enjoy exciting field trips, engage in community service, and immerse themselves in a variety of outdoor and gym games. From conquering rock climbing challenges to making a splash in the pool, Teen Leaders Camp offers a dynamic blend of activities that promise an unforgettable summer experience. Join us for a summer of laughter, learning, and leadership development! Fees: $200R/$230NR *fees are per week. Camp is available for ages 12-14 (6-8th grades) and are offered from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday-Thursday. *Extended Care is available for an additional fee.

SPECIALTY CAMPS 

Elgin Youth Choir Camp – The Elgin Youth Choir is dedicated to fostering the love of music through the pursuit of excellence from individual and ensemble discipline to teamwork and self expression.  “We teach life through song”. The Elgin Youth Choir Summer-Camp provides a week long experience where students can grow musically in a fun and exciting environment along with a live performance at the conclusion of camp. Summer Horse Camp – Join the fun at Dunham Wood Farms!  Campers will learn the proper way to groom, tack and handle horses as well as learning the basics of riding at the walk and trot.  We will also learn about breeds, colors, markings and more.  Games and other activities will be done as well!  Camps are offered as a 2 day or 4 day camp experience.  Contact Kerry Reynolds at 847-531-7010 or reynolds_k@cityofelgin.org for more information.

PRESCHOOL CAMPS 

Discovery Camps –  These 4 day camp sessions are geared to preschoolers, ages 3-5 years, ready to have fun!  Each week will have a new and exciting theme and include arts, crafts, songs, stories, STEM activities and outdoor play.  Come discover with us this summer!  Contact Kerry Reynolds at 847-531-7010 or reynolds_k@cityofelgin.org for more information or questions. 

Safety Town Camp –  This one week camp is perfect for children ages 4-6 years old.  We will focus on lessons on pedestrian, fire, bicycle and water safety along with stranger danger.  Using our replica town and mini bikes, children will role play and practice safety skills and behaviors.    Contact Kerry Reynolds at 847-531-7010 or reynolds_k@cityofelgin.org for more information or questions.

DROP IN PLAYGROUND PROGRAM 

Join the community spirit right in your neighborhood park! Kids, ages 6-12 years, are welcome to join this FREE program for fun activities, games and supervision without the obligation to attend daily or for the entire program duration. Registration is not required to attend the program, however, a parent/guardian must complete an emergency card/waiver before a participant can participate in activities with the playground staff.

Special events will be planned at the playgrounds weekly sponsored by the Elgin Parks and Recreation Foundation throughout the summer for the participants along with the entire community. Stop by any of the locations to pick up a schedule after June 3rd.

Lunch will be provided at no cost by the Northern Illinois Food Bank from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm for all participants along with community members under the age of 18 years.  The program will not be held on inclement weather days but lunch may still be provided. 

Our staff will be at five Elgin Parks, Monday – Friday from 10 am – 3 pm, beginning June 3rd – August 2nd.  This summer we will be at College Green Park, Cornerstone Park, Lords Park (East Shelter), St. Francis Park and Wing Park (shelter 2).  Bathroom facilities are exclusively accessible at the Lords Park and Wing Park sites. Please plan accordingly for restroom requirements as walking back home may be necessary for the other park sites.
